Wish I may, Wish I might

Just today i submitted my blog to blogsvertise, a website where you can earn something from writing in your own way, and at the same time advertising the advertisers product.  My account now is currently set to probation, and at this time i’m waiting for my first task.  What could my first task be?  Hope i can write a good column for my first task.  First impressions last, hope it’ll be this way.

Emo?

     While browsing the archives of photobucket, I suddenyl stumble upon this shocking pic (for me :p).  And you know what’s my intial reaction? F**k, is this emo? 

    Emo usually or now really are tagged with the word "suicide".  I really don’t know why they act like these, however, flow of emotions?.  It’s kinda weird to see photos like these (again, for me XD), bleeding, blood and stuffs like that.

    What is the word emo means by the way?

   I first heard of emo, as far as I remember, was around late 2003.  My classmates on my high-school days drag along their newly purchased Compact Discs at school.  They play it aloud in our classroom when there’s no instructors around.  I first thought that it’s another Blink182ish type of music, then I suddenly realize that it started to sing like it’s crying.  It’s kinda like listening to a baby cry, but its an average teen guy singing.  With all those scream and vocal chord damaging voices I found it interesting.

    Anyways, back to the picture, notice that lip cut through by a blade…drooling! 

    Why did they want to this kind of stuff?

    Disgusting and intriguing and oooooooooh! it reall does look heart.

    Well, try to ask your emo friend out there. 

    Do they live the lifestyle of an emo or just another wannabe?

You’ll probably think that I’m crazy, however, I just want to know the answers for these questions.

Time will pass by but still there’s a thousand questions will be left unanswered.

Music scene in Cebu City

Music scene here in Cebu seems to grow more than it is expected."Daghan gasulti na ang mga taga Manila artist ra ang musikat kay they are based in the Capital". But little they know that Cebuano are also musically inclined people that posseses the same potentials just like artist in Manila. One of the most well known cebuano artist that uses cebuano language (ang bisayang pinulungan)is no other than Mr. Yoyoy Villame. Mr. Villame became famous of his song of the story about the discovery of the Philippines by Magelan. Many artist was influenced by this well-known cebuano artist, many bands are sprouting in every corner of Cebu City. One of these bands is "Missing Filemon" , they release their first album last 2002. The band uses the Cebuano language in writing songs. Some of the famous band in the City are Smooth Friction, Balde ni Allan, Aggresive Audio, Mantequilla, and Phylum. This band uses their own cebuano language in making songs. Some of the Cebuano artist that is famous in Manila are The Ambassadors, Urbandub, Junior Kilat, Faspitch. These artists are mostly signed on Lighter Records, the first indie label in Cebu. These artist strive hard to grab the attention of the people in Manila. These artist are mostly in the genre of rock. While in the Hip-Hop scene Dice and K9 is the famous one. Due to the need recording studios many studios open their gates for Cebuano artist. The famous recording studio in the 90’s and still helping the Cebuano artist up to today is the "Backyard Project Studio". Many famous artists already recorded in
this studio on of the few is the band called "Slapshock" and was mixed by Kerryl "mik mik" Demeterio. Still there are many recording studios open in the late year 2000 and early 2005. ZZBU studio also records the song of the famous band Missing Filemon, Phoenix studio record the songs of the band Hastang.

But how can these new bands sprouting in every corner of the city to surviveif there were no corporate sponsors. Yes it is a good thing to have a sponsor but itsnot about having any sponsors at all. It’s about how you want your music to be. ‘Cozbands don’t make music for other to hear but they are only making music forthemselves to enjoy. Good thing there are some that understands the need ofunderground artist. The Skinny Buddha production, these productions giveunderground bands an opportunity to play their music in a bigger crowd. Another one is Food Not Bombs, SRA (Struggle for Radical Action) and All Mixed Up. This group organizes a monthly gig and most of the music played in this gigs is punk music. Most of the band that are now famous in Cebu City mostly came from these productions. Bands struggle to record their respectivematerial because of the lack of support of the government. In today’s world bands in Cebu usually get from their own pocket to record and sell their albums independently. It was a big relief when Lighter Records, Daybreak Records and Indie CultureOnline came. This have been a big thanks for the artist/band for knowing that there are still people that exist that believe on their talents and understandsthe needs of a artist/band to help spread their music in a bigger audiences.

Matud pa sa akong apohan nga sa una wala gyud gani dungug angmga cebuano artist pero karon dako na kaayo ang paglambo sa musicscene sa Cebu. Dili na gyud mag problema ang artist na mangita ugmga studio na morecord sa ilahang kanta sa pinaka minus na presyo.Pasalamt gyud ug dako ang mga artist sa Cebu sa niining mga recordingstudio kay kung wala ni cla wala gihapon ang Cebu music scene.

No Ordinary Love

I truly agree on the saying "Love Make Simple Things Complicated".  Many of my friends always thought that love is really exciting, fun, and of course lots of pleasure.  But little they know that love is the worst feeling that a person would ever feel.  Everytime I take a walk on the city streets, I always see lovers hugging and kissing each other.  Makes me feel envious sometimes, however, they’re just showing their feelings.  The one thing that make me feel sorry is when I see or hear that a girl crying because of love.  They’ve been abandoned, rejected and most especially fucked.  Girls really do are always the victims of love.  Boys also do but that is "quite"  rare for boys (some) don’t have humor.  Fuck…fuck…fuck, `til you drop.  Thats what the the boys perspective of love, in fairness to others that realy value love in the first place and not the fucking thing.  Though it’s not the boys fault for fucking a girl, girls really get tempted easilly while boys are prone to tempation…hahaha.

Anyways, I’m just talking shit here.  My main point is that everyone should value love to the fullest and not love a person because you are just seeking for pleasure but love person because you really love her/him.  That’s what God keep telling in the bible and in the commandments.

So guys, tell the person you love "I Love with all my hypothalamus" not with all your heart and feelings.

Recording: The first time

Recording a song can never be fun, especially if it is your second time on a recording studio.  You always feel anxious on what will happen inside that studio.  Will you ever be that good in playing and not feel nervou.  And you will always have this idea that will my drummer hit the right drum heads and not the rims, will the bassist strum the right chords and the lead guitarist will get the adlib right and not off tune. 

But anyways, here is a sort of advice for you who are planning to record their song and it’s their first time inside a studio.  You got to have to consider and take not of the following.  First, you have to know your song, it means that you can play your chords with your eyes close.  This means that you really are familiar with your own song, with this you can shorten the recording time.  Recording rates are not that cheap, so you must use your time wisely inside that studio.  Second, you must able to master the melody of the song, the most biggest responsiblity will be the vocalist.  If he sang the song out of tune and record it instantly, your song really suck bad.  Third, you must have an executive producer during your recording session.  Producers really meant a lot inside that studio, they help ran the recording session smoothly and they also give advices on whats the mixing of the instruments.  And last is you have to be on the mood,  being on the mood really helps alot in recording.  If your not on the mood, the recording session will go bad, you will not be able to play that good and you’ll always be feeling disoriented.

So those are some recording tips i find usefull, and also dont forget and don’t be shy to ask advices from the producers and the sound engineer.  Advices really meant a lot especially if it enhances your band performance inside the studio.
